When I think about this guy…Joseph Campbell, I think about him graduating college in the 1920’s and America is in the great depression and this guy Joe Campbell leaves NY City and he moves up to Woodstock, NY and in the 1920’s this place was very small a rural area that had a library and for almost 4 years Joe Campbell lived on the deep cheap and all he did was educate himself and READ….READ and learn and just deeply educated himself with a ZEALOT PASSION…..One Of The Deepest Burning Passions that I personally have encountered in any form….That would be the thing that pops for me when I think of Joseph Campbell..There’s an amazing book about his 13 years of talks at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur that Diane Osbon wrote down and documented…It’s an amazing classic on storytelling and the brilliant passion that this man had in him and a great dictation by Mrs. Osbon!!
